Walmart has announced a new attendance policy that rewards eligible associates with an additional 25 percent on their quarterly performance-based cash bonuses.
Other new policies give hourly associates up to 48 hours in most locations to use when they unexpectedly can’t report for work. Absences during the protected time do not impact an employee’s attendance record. More than 300,000 Walmart associates have a spotless attendance record, according to a company blog post.
The new policies are part of other improvements including an increase to an $11 an hour minimum wage and expanded maternity and parental leave.
