Rick Means, our Safety Specialist who has developed a robust program during his 6 ½ years with Washington Retail, is being promoted as Retail Services’ Director of Safety and Education.

This promotion acknowledges Rick’s tremendous safety support for our members and for securing multiple L&I Safety and Health Investment Program grants to develop SAFEME apps with 24 lessons available in both English and Spanish.

In addition, the new title reflects our strategy to further careers in retail education to strengthen support for members. To this end, we have been developing stakeholder relationships with educators, the National Retail Federation’s RISE Up Program and other business organizations.

Rick is a Certified Safety Management Practitioner (CSMP) and has been with the Association of Operations Management (APICS), Project Management Institute (PMI) and Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) at various points of his career.

Currently RS offers online training modules, a safety library and training webinars to support members’ compliance with the various government agency rules and policies that impact them. Tell us what you are looking for and Rick will make sure you have the required information and materials.

Rick brings more than 35 years of experience working in retail corporate offices and stores. We are very fortunate to have a person with his experience in business operations.

Please join in congratulating Rick.
