As Seattle’s nationwide search for a new Police Chief nears its end, Mayor Bruce Harrell released the names of the three final candidates recommended by the Mayor’s search committee. Interim Chief Adrian Diaz, who was encouraged to apply by Mayor Harrell, is one of the finalists. This position has been vacant since Chief Carmen Best retired in 2020.
The finalist list includes another member of the SPD command, Assistant Chief Eric Greening. The third candidate is Kevin Hall, an Assistant Chief of Police in Tucson, Arizona.
The next step is for the Mayor to name his choice for Chief, followed by a confirmation process and vote by the Seattle City Council.
