Beginning on Jan. 1, 2020 retailers and other businesses in Kitsap county which include the City of Bremerton and the City of Port Orchard, will no longer be allowed to provide plastic bags to their customers. Kitsap county joins a long list of other counties and cities in our state to pass similar ordinances this past year in efforts towards environmental protection.

According to a study by the US EPA, Kitsap county alone consumes around 87 million plastic bags per year, and only 12% are recycled.
