Washington Retail will testify at a September 5 Seattle Council committee considering an ordinance that would require small businesses located in hotels to provide health benefits coverage.

Among the pending issues are the levels of coverage and which types of businesses would be affected.

John Engber, Director of the Retail Industry Coalition of Seattle, will testify that the ordinance should only apply to businesses deemed necessary for hotel operations and not include stores selling items such as cosmetics, jewelry and the like.

The ordinance is assigned to the council’s Housing, Health, Energy and Workers’ Rights Committee.

If you have questions or concerns about this ordinance, please contact Engber at 206-850-5517 or [email protected].
