Anacortes councilwoman replaces Senator Ranker

Anacortes City Councilwoman Liz Lovelett has replaced state Senator Kevin Ranker who resigned last month after allegations of workplace harassment were made against him by a former aide.

The Democrat Lovelett has served as a councilwoman since 2014. Her current term runs to the end of 2021.

As an appointee, Lovelett must face a confirmation election for the state Senate in November of this year. Her priorities as a councilwoman have been listed as affordable housing and water management.
