Washington Retail has endorsed Heidi Wills, Alex Pedersen and Logan Bowers in the August 6 primary for Seattle City Council elections. There have been 56 candidates competing for seven open seats on the nine-member council for four-year terms.

The two highest finishers in each of the seven district races will campaign for election in the November 5 general election.

Wills, Pedersen and Bowers completed candidate surveys and participated in interviews with WR senior management before earning their endorsements. The surveys measure funds raised for campaigns, political experience, extent of doorbelling, other endorsements and positions on issues of prime importance to WR and the membership.

Wills, owner of a gift products company, is competing for a nomination in District 6, which extends from Green Lake to Golden Gardens north of downtown. The incumbent Mike O’Brien has decided not to seek re-election.

Pedersen, who is campaigning full time, is running in District 4, which extends from Lake Union to Sand Point. The incumbent, appointee Abel Pacheco, has announced he will not seek election in the fall.

Bowers, a Washington Retail Association member and engineer, is running in District 3 in central Seattle where four others are running against the incumbent Kshama Sawant. WR maintains a tracker with background on each of the candidates still in the race. Click here to review the tracker.
