The company’s new pilot program, College2Career, provides recent college graduates and current students nearing graduation with the opportunity to launch their careers by helping to manage a Walmart store. Participants receive comprehensive training, hands-on experience, and mentorship from company leaders. Top performers are offered the new management position of emerging coach, with a starting wage of at least $65,000 a year.
Walmart also offers the Home Office Pathway Experience program, which connects frontline associates pursuing a college degree with in-demand corporate roles. After completing the eight-week program and earning their degree, participants are eligible for full-time office positions.
Through Walmart’s Academy, one of the largest private employer training programs in the country, associates can develop on-the-job skills and leadership fundamentals. With over 200 Walmart Academies nationwide, the company is preparing associates for current roles and future careers.
Walmart’s Live Better U education program enables associates to enhance their retail knowledge while working on the frontline and obtaining further education, all funded by Walmart.
Since 2013, Walmart has hired over 400,000 veterans and military spouses. The company introduced the Find-a-Future site, a free resource designed to help veterans and military spouses start new careers at Walmart or launch businesses that can sell to the company.
