Gov. Jay Inslee announced this past week that all remaining COVID-19 emergency proclamations and the COVID-19 state of emergency will end by Oct. 31.

Nearly three-quarters of the governor’s 85 COVID-19 emergency orders have already been lifted.

A majority of the 85 orders issued, including most mask requirements, and restrictions on commerce and restaurants, had already been lifted. An additional 13 health care related orders are scheduled to end Oct. 27, including one that offered pharmacies flexibility in where they could store vaccines. Ten remaining orders, including the principle emergency order and vaccination requirements for health care and education workers, will remain in effect until the emergency order is lifted Oct. 31.

“We’ve come a long way the past two years in developing the tools that allow us to adapt and live with COVID-19,” Inslee said. “Ending this order does not mean we take it less seriously or will lose focus on how this virus has changed the way we live. We will continue our commitments to the public’s well-being, but simply through different tools that are now more appropriate for the era we’ve entered.”
