In last month’s newsletter, we wrote an article about Seattle’s population booming by 21.1% from 2010 to 2020, outpacing King County’s suburbs for the first time in literally 100 years.

Has COVID-inspired remote working encouraged people to leave the city? Well, the pandemic appears to have dramatically slowed Seattle’s growth. From April 1, 2020, to April 1, 2021, Seattle grew only .7%, an increase of only 5,400 people. The State’s downward revision of growth estimates by the State helps explain the lower growth to some extent.
