WR strongly supports the U.S. Senate’s passage of the federal infrastructure package. On a bi-partisan vote of 69-30, the $1.2 trillion infrastructure and jobs package moved out of the Senate. This critical bill includes updates to our aging infrastructure and creates new jobs. WR has long advocated for the adoption of an overhaul to our infrastructure and has contacted our federal delegation and the President on multiple occasions to offer our support.

Spending on infrastructure puts money in the hands and pockets of Americans. This money finds its way into retail establishments in the form of new and higher spending. New roads and highways mean retailers will be able to move goods easier, cheaper, and more cost-effectively. More broadband access will lead to our rural retailers having the ability to better serves their customers. It is a win-win for the U.S. As our economy staggers out of the worst pandemic in over 100 years – this package will ensure a healthy chance to grow our economy in a lasting and meaningful manner.

The package now goes to the House, where its fate is uncertain. Speaker Pelosi has stated that she does not plan to bring up the issue until the Senate passes an even more ambitious $3.5 trillion social policy bill. Many Republicans and moderate Democrats think the price tag is too steep.

WR encourages the House of Representatives to swiftly consider and act on the agreed-to $1.2 trillion infrastructure package, supported by the President, as our economy’s health and long-term viability depend on it.
