WR has joined with retailers, businesses, and state and national associations, in signing a letter to the U.S. Congress regarding much-needed consumer privacy legislation.
The letter presents a unified voice urging the U.S. House and Senate to work towards national legislation to protect consumer privacy data. WR welcomes a national standard that will create protections without placing undue hardships on retail businesses.
Dozens of states, including Washington, have introduced or are in the process of drafting or have already enacted legislation intended to provide consumer protections. If no national standard is in place, a multi-state patchwork of differing requirements will affect consumers with unintentional outcomes. Most of these laws will inadvertently create untenable conditions for businesses to navigate.
