WR co-signs letter asking for end to trade tariffs

WR joined 150 trade associations this week in co-signing a letter asking President Trump to remove tariffs in any final trade deal with China.

If current tariffs remain in place, one study pointed to 260,000 fewer job gains. WR also maintains that:

  • Tariffs are taxes paid by American businesses and families.
  • The existing 10 percent tariffs already have hurt farmers and manufacturers who trade with China
  • Americans have already paid more than $23 billion in taxes due to the U.S./China trade war.
  • China’s unfair trading practices must be addressed, but tariffs have resulted in layoffs, deferred investments and ongoing business uncertainty that holds back economic growth.
