Washington Retail wants to continue its dialog with the Seattle police department regarding disturbances in some stores around the city.

The WR board of directors met late last year with Assistant Police Chief Adrian Diaz to learn more about how police respond to incidents including theft, assaults and illicit activity in restrooms.

WR plans more meetings with police but we want to hear about your experiences – good and bad – doing business in the city. We encourage store owners and managers to contact John Engber, Director of the Retail Industry Coalition of Seattle. We want to share your experiences with the police, City government and others. We can do this without sharing the name of your business, if you require anonymity.

By sharing your experiences, WR will be better prepared to represent you in discussions with the Seattle police and City government. Remember, the Seattle police deploy their officers and other resources based on reported crimes, so it’s important for the police department to know about any disturbance in and around your stores.

You can contact John Engber at 206-850-5517 or [email protected].
