Candidates Alex Pedersen and Heidi Wills have survived primary challenges to run in the November 5 general election to the Seattle City Council.

Pedersen finished first in his District 4 race while Wills finished second in the District 6 race. WR backed both after they answered questionnaires and were interviewed on issues of importance to retailers in Seattle.

Seven of the council’s nine seats are up for grabs in this year’s election. Click here to review results of the primary races. Washington Retail’s Seattle candidate tracker is another good way to learn about the remaining candidates leading up to the general election.

Association leadership is now assessing the remaining council races to determine whether to extend more endorsements. It will report any developments on its website, in newsletters and in the Ear of Washington Retail podcast.

Washington Retail is supporting candidates it feels are more likely to understand and act in favor of the needs of retailers and other businesses operating in Seattle. The support primarily relates to avoiding unnecessary or costly regulations that threaten the livelihoods of employers, their employees and customers.
