In April 2021, Target committed to spending $2 billion with Black-owned businesses by 2025. Their goal was to create more equitable and welcoming experiences for their Black guests and create economic opportunities for Black-owned businesses. Target pledged to grow the number of Black-owned brands available in their stores and online and spend more with Black-owned suppliers while building new resources for Black entrepreneurs.

Target has announced that it is launching a new media fund initiative through its in-house media company, Roundel. Since 2020, they have increased the amount of money they have spent with Black-owned companies and suppliers by more than 50% and doubled the number of Black-owned brands to more than 100.
