Shipping crisis made worse by trade wars

Small businesses are finding it difficult to navigate amidst the global shipping crisis. With ocean lines controlling the power to set policies and shipping capacities, combined with labor shortages, retailers are finding it difficult to maintain the inventories they need to operate normally. And then there is the China issue.

With the trade war with China, including punishing tariffs over the past three years, American businesses are feeling the punishment as much or more than China itself. It is the American importers who pay the cost of tariffs, not China, forcing the cost of business to skyrocket. Increased costs directly affect every aspect of operations, including the ability to reinvest into employees and the business itself.
