State Senator Reuven Carlyle, D-Seattle, announced on Monday that he would not seek re-election to the senate in 2022.
Carlyle was elected to the House of Representatives from the 36th Legislative district in 2008. At the time, it was the most expensive house campaign run in state history. In 2015, he succeeded Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles for a Senate seat and has served as a Washington State Legislator for a total of 13-years.
Carlyle received the Achievement Award from the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators, the Washington Conservation Voters Legislator of the Year award, and is in the Boys & Girls Club Alumni Hall of Fame during his years of service.
In a statement announcing his decision, Carlyle said, “Like everyone, I want to live an exceptional life with meaning and purpose. My service in the Legislature is a wonderful chapter in this blessed journey. Thank you!”
