Longtime Seattle journalist Knute “Mossback” Berger has written a reflective piece on Seattle that surely is on the minds of anyone familiar with the city.

“The Seattle we knew is gone,” the headline reads. “What comes next?”

The pandemic is in its sixth month, businesses have closed, the politics is partisan and confrontational. Homelessness has grown and persists, and some are calling to cut the police budget in half.

In the piece, Berger discovered that Mayor Jenny Durkan is unbowed and says she sees the city’s unprecedented challenges as an opportunity to recover in a different and possibly better place than it confronted the challenges of 2020. Read it here.
