Starwood Capital Group has completed its purchase of downtown Seattle’s iconic Macy’s Building.

This building, at the corner of 3rd and Pine, had housed a department store for 90 years, opening as The Bon Marché flagship store. In recent years, Macy’s had leased space on the upper six floors to Amazon.

In 1992, Federated Department Stores took ownership of The Bon Marché. At the time of the takeover, Federated owned Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s. After an initial rebranding as Bon-Macy’s, the store has operated as Macy’s.
