Revenue has issued supplemental alerts about a new state law that eliminated a sales tax exemption for eligible out-of-state shoppers in Washington State. The new law eliminated the exemption and requires shoppers to save their receipts so that they can apply later for a tax refund.

Revenue has issued a special notice and flyer as alerts to Washington State merchants about out-of-state-shoppers who once qualified for an immediate tax exemption at the point of sale.

Here is the attached Special Notice and flyer. Those with questions are invited to visit Revenue’s website at dor.wa.gov/nonresidents or to call 360‑705‑6705.
