Appointed State Representative Alex Ybarra (R-Quincy) easily won victory in the August 6 primary by garnering nearly 70% of the vote over challenger Steve Verhey.

Ybarra was unanimously endorsed by the Washington Retail Action Council Political Action Committee due to his strong support of retail issues. His voting record showed 100% support for the issues of prime importance to retailers this year. Ybarra voted against all of the budget-busting tax increases and supported efforts to combat the opioid use disorder epidemic.

Ybarra, a compliance officer for Grant County, now advances to the General Election scheduled for Tuesday, November 5 where he is expected to have a very strong showing.

WR appreciates Rep. Ybarra’s attention to the needs of retailers and their customers and looks forward to continuing our strong working relationship during the 2020 Legislative Session.
