Lieutenant Governor Cyrus Habib has announced the Washington Mask Challenge to match people who can make face protection as donors to organizations in need of masks such as nursing homes, homeless shelters, food banks and more.

The statewide initiative is a partnership between the State of Washington, United Way and Serve Washington. The program requests donations of at least 10 masks. Governor Jay Inslee has encouraged participation in the campaign.

Instructions on how to proceed and who to contact are here.

The state Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control recommend wearing masks during the COVID-19 pandemic while performing essential activities. Masks are not meant as replacements for social distancing and hand washing during the outbreak.
