Labor & Industries this week issued updated directives regarding workplace safety precautions for essential employees of businesses that remain open during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The guidance addresses social distancing, sanitation and sick employee practices required under Governor Inslee’s Stay Home Stay Healthy Order that is in effect until May 4. The order requires people to say home except for essential activities, chiefly those to maintain minimum living conditions.
In recent days, Inslee has relaxed restrictions that had shut down construction and the use of state parks for outdoor recreation. The directive addresses how to manage essential employees who may have come in contact with infected people, what protective steps to take and whether or in what circumstances an employee may need to be quarantined or sent home.
Washington Retail urges all employers with essential employees to review the directives and to share its contents with them.
