A political action committee sponsored by the Seattle Metro Chamber of Commerce has announced endorsements of candidates running this year for the Seattle City Council.

Seven of the council’s 9 seats are up for election while four incumbents have announced that they will not be seeking election in November.

The online news site The Lens has taken a closer look at the endorsements by the Civic Alliance for a Sound Economy (CASE), of which Washington Retail is a member. CASE has announced endorsements of candidates Phil Tavel, Mark Soloman, Egan Orion, Alex Pedersen, incumbent Debora Juarez, Jay Fathi, Heidi Wills, Michael George and Jim Pugel.

There has been mounting disaffection for the council from Seattle’s business community for not consulting with affected parties before taking action. This came to a head about a year ago when the council passed an employee head tax it later repealed under protest from the business community.

WR is assessing candidates and plans to make separate endorsements.
