Seattle University is conducting an anonymous online survey to measure public perceptions of policing and safety in the city.

This is the sixth such public safety survey conducted by Jackie Helfgott, a criminology professor at Seattle U. Washington Retail encourages all businesses to consider participating in the survey.

The Seattle Police Department (“SPD”) uses the survey to allocate resources and determine patrolling strategies. KING TV reported that SPD increased messaging about how to prevent vehicle break-ins after neighbors expressed concerns. The #1 concern expressed in last year’s survey was lack of police personnel. This year, the City Council has eliminated approximately 100 positions from SPD.

This year’s survey, being done independently of the police department, is open until November 30. Take it here.
