Washington-based retailer Amazon, always on the forefront of innovation and new technologies, has recently announced that delivery by drone is here!
Amazon has been developing drone delivery technology for nearly a decade now, and the company will be rolling out initial tests in Lockeford, California, very soon. An official start date has yet to be announced.
Building a network that can deliver packages across many miles in various communities has remained a challenge for drone companies, including Amazon, the company said in the blog post.
Walgreens has also been developing ways to make deliveries faster to meet increased consumer demand. In April, the company started using drones to deliver prescriptions to customers in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas metro area, making them the first major retailer to adopt drone delivery.
