Merchants and shoppers alike want to be able to follow the demolition of the Seattle waterfront’s Alaska Way double-decker viaduct, which began at the start of spring.

There are several ways to remain up to date on progress.

The state Department of Transportation posts weekly online updates on sections being removed here. You can mouse over sections of interest and learn the status of the demolition.

There’s also a 24/7 construction hotline available at 1-888-298-5463. Click here to sign up for a weekly construction email update.

You can email questions about the project to [email protected]. King 5 TV in Seattle also has produced a drone’s video view of the demolition here.

The entire project is expected to take six months and conclude at the end of summer. Workers are breaking pieces of rubble from the site to fill the Battery Street Tunnel.
