Walmart will be installing prescription drug disposal kiosks in 26 stores across Washington State during June, the company announced.
According to a 2018 national drug survey, 9.9 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs, the majority of which were obtained from family and friends, often from a medicine cabinet.
The company hopes to prevent drug misuse and abuse by encouraging patients to use safe disposal options. The company also offers the free DisposeRx packet, an at-home opioid disposal product.
Locations scheduled for kiosk installations include stores in Auburn, Bremerton, Federal Way, Lacey, Moses Lake, Pullman, Spokane, Tumwater, Vancouver, Wenatchee and Yakima.
