The Macy’s star in downtown Seattle will shine again this year despite the company’s decision to close the store early next year.
Furthermore, the star’s being repaired and will be replaced next year with a more modern replica thanks to Amazon, a tenant in the building, and the building’s new owner.
Amazon is spending $250,000 to restore the star in time for its lighting scheduled for 5 p.m. on Friday. Starwood Property Trust, which owns the 8-story building, will replace it next year with a $250,000 replica star, reports the Seattle Times.
About 2,000 Amazon employees occupy the top six floors of the building.
