Columnist expresses confidence about the future of Seattle

Many may wonder how well Seattle’s vibrant downtown will be able to withstand this year’s combination of business closures from the COVID-19 outbreak and damaging riots that sullied peaceful demonstrations following the death of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer.

Jon Talton, a reporter who covers business in the Seattle Times, is not one of them.

Talton, a downtown Seattle resident, writes that he’s not moving out. He’s confident that companies will soon recognize that productivity requires returning to their downtown offices instead of relying on Zoom. Their investments in downtown coupled with its proximity to an international port bode well for downtown Seattle, he writes.
