Last week, WR participated in the Washington State Supply Chain Caucus meeting.
As one of the most trade-dependent states in the country, Washington has been challenged with supply chain issues – both getting goods into our state and getting goods out of our ports.
WR invited supply chain expert Jonathan Gold, Vice President of Supply Chain and Customs Policy for the National Retail Federation, to present on supply chain challenges and recent port workers’ negotiations.
The caucus is chaired by Rep. Matt Boehnke (R-8 Kennewick) and organized by the Washington Trucking Association. Over 30 people participated in the video meeting, including five legislators.
One of the highlights was the announcement of the passage of the Ocean Shipping Reform Act (OSRA), which NRF and WRA supported. Please take a moment to thank our congressional delegation for supporting this important legislation with this link.
With the passage of OSRA, the enactment of the infrastructure bill, and a national focus on the truck driver shortage, WR is optimistic that supply chain challenges will continue to improve.
WR applauds Representative Boehnke and the Washington Trucking Association for convening this important and needed stakeholder group. WR appreciates Mr. Gold from the NRF presenting to our group.
