California Congresswoman Young Kim introduced a bipartisan bill in the U.S. House of Representatives to address organized retail crimes (ORC) that hurt retailers and threaten public safety. Kim is the U.S. representative for California’s 39th congressional district.

The Improving Federal Investigations of Organized Retail Crime Act of 2022 (H.R. 7499), directs the Attorney General, the Secretary of Homeland Security, the Postmaster General, and the heads of relevant Federal agencies to collaborate and develop strategies to address ORC. The bill also requires these agencies to assist State and local law enforcement in compiling materials and evidence needed for prosecution of organized retail crime and increase cooperation and the sharing of information with the retail industry and State retail crime task forces.

Representatives Andrew Garbarino (NY-02), Eric Swalwell (CA-15), Maria Salazar (FL-27), and Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) are cosponsors of the legislation.
