First and second quarter premium payments and reports for Paid Family and Medical Leave should be submitted to the state between July 1 and July 31 of this year. L&I did not expect first quarter payments to be submitted in April.

Businesses with fewer than 50 employees are not being assessed the employer share of the premium but must still collect and remit their employees’ share.

Washington workers will be able to use Paid Family and Medical Leave benefits starting in 2020. These benefits will generally allow up to 12 weeks of paid leave per year to care for yourself or your family.
