Marisa Wulff, co-CEO of the Olympia-based Mud Bay pet retail chain, will address the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce lunch forum at the Hotel RL on September 11.

Washington Retail is partnering with the chamber to present Wulff as part of its annual Careers in Retail Month. During September, the start of the retail holiday hiring season, the promotion aims to share retail success stories while outlining the industry’s importance on careers and the economy of the State of Washington.

An avid outdoorswoman, Wulff grew up in Olympia and earned degrees at the University of Washington and The Hague. While working for the Washington State Investment Board, she began moonlighting at Mud Bay’s original store that she and her brother, Lars, founded. In the years since, she has worked in, and on, most aspects of Mud Bay from distribution to business processes. During the last five years, she has focused on business strategy, site selection, lease negotiation, and visual merchandising.

Mud Bay is employee-owned. It is one of the 20 largest, and one of the 10 fastest-growing pet retailers in North America.
