Interim CEO Alesha Shemwell inspires women leaders at Walmart event

In celebration of Women’s History Month, Interim CEO Alesha Shemwell participated in Walmart’s Women in Leadership event on March 10, 2026. The event was held at the Marysville Walmart on Quil Ceda Boulevard, bringing together a dynamic audience of regional leaders, Market Managers, Market People Partners, Supply Chain partners, and representatives from all 11 markets, including Store Managers, Store Leads, and Store Coaches.

This year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” emphasized the importance of investing in the development of women leaders. The philosophy is simple but powerful: by giving our time, mentorship, and advocacy to others, we create a cycle of empowerment that fosters stronger, more confident, and resilient leaders – and in turn, a stronger organization.

Speaking from her own experience as a female leader, Alesha shared insights on the value of confidence, advocacy, and support in professional growth. She encouraged attendees to champion female colleagues, take risks, and embrace opportunities to lead with impact.

The event featured a variety of activities designed to engage and inspire attendees, including an elevator speech exercise, a leadership panel with female leaders across Walmart’s business segments, and a vision board activity to outline goals for the next five years. Guests also participated in presentations from Dress for Success Seattle, a local Market Manager, and the Regional Vice President, and witnessed the presentation of a grant check to a local women’s shelter.

Alesha’s remarks reinforced the theme of empowerment and the significance of supporting women in leadership. Her presence and perspective offered both encouragement and practical guidance, reminding all attendees that investing in others is a key ingredient for lasting professional and organizational success.
