Washington Retail has joined a letter with scores of other nonprofit organizations in support of a new Congressional bill to extend COVID-19-related emergency assistance in future versions of the federal CARES Act.
Thousands of nonprofits hard hit by the coronavirus outbreak were left out of the Phase 3 CARES Act for the Paycheck Protection Program. It made some nonprofits eligible for financial help but not others categorized as 506 c (6), such as Washington Retail.
Besides trade associations, local chambers of commerce also come under the nonprofit category so far left out for help from Congress. Many are struggling to remain open and some have closed.
