Washington Retail has joined numerous other nationwide companies and state associations in a letter asking President Trump for further tariff relaxations he announced earlier in the COVID-19 virus outbreak.
The letter asks that deferrals be extended longer and include more imports than currently granted by the President.
A further relaxation would free up billions of dollars in working capital for the listed companies that have been closed due to various state stay-at-home orders, the letter states. The companies are suffering from serious liquidity issues that will threaten their recovery after the virus recedes unless they can obtain further financial relief from obligations connected to international tariffs being charged by the U.S.
