Your safety compliance could be worth some money

Washington Retail’s Safety Specialist, Rick Means, makes periodic calls to members to make sure they fully meet the state’s safety requirements. This includes holding regular safety meetings, maintaining an Accident Prevention Plan, displaying safety posters and in some cases, keeping Safety Data Sheets (Hazard Communication).

Labor & Industries’ fines for not meeting requirements start at $200.00. If you don’t budget for fines, the payment would have to come out of profits or proceeds.

Rick has learned through a Zurich Insurance representative that a company being in compliance with L&I items can possibly qualify for a discount on liability insurance. He advises to check with your agent about whether premium discounts may be available to you.

Rick asked that you contact him if you need help with any of the safety requirements mentioned here.

WR employs Rick who is available to members to help draw up safety plans and suggest topics for safety meetings. Contact him at 360-943-9198, Ext. 18 or [email protected]
