WR has proactively introduced legislation to help crack down on retail theft. Over $940 million in merchandise was stolen from retailers in the State of Washington last year. This means nearly $90 million in state sales tax was not collected. WR’s bill will add the word concealment to the definition of theft to allow police and retail loss prevention officers to apprehend criminals as they are hiding product on their personage or in a bag or device. Almost every other state already has this tool.
